After executing a search warrant on a business that was identified as selling Psilocybin mushrooms, charges have now been laid on two individuals involved in the operation.
During May of 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Organized Crime Unit, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Unit, continued investigating a retail psilocybin (magic mushroom) dispensary in the Osborne Village neighbourhood and identified two individuals believed to be involved in its operation.
The business was identified as selling Psilocybin mushrooms, and psilocybin is an active ingredient classified as a Schedule III substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA).
On May 19 a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant was executed and members of the Guns & Gangs Unit searched the business in the 100 block of Osborne Street, a residence in the 300 block of Waterfront Drive and a linked vehicle associated with the suspects.
The male and female suspects were located within the business at the time of the warrant execution and placed under arrest without incident.
The search of both the business and linked residence produced the following items, which officers seized as evidence:
13-gram bags of Psilocybin x 39 Approximately 260 grams of loose Psilocybin
